Alien vs. Musical - Hollywood Fringe Review
A review by
Rachel Flanagan.
Set in the "Land of Musicals" with characters from hit musicals like the
Sound of Music, Rent, Les Misérables, and Annie, Alien vs. Musical
is the story of a mysterious egg, the laughter, singing, and chaos that ensues after the egg is hatched and of course the unrelenting desire to be a star on Broadway. As the story opens, we meet a bunch of friends from all of the land of musicals who each seems to have a deeper unexplored story that led them away from the musical life they once knew and found themselves in a group of unlikely friends. Today is Effie's (
Dreamgirls
) birthday and Annie (
Annie
) has found an interesting egg that she thinks would be a perfect gift. Unfortunately, the egg hatches and turns out to be a murderous Alien (Aliens franchise) going after everyone in the group of friends. Determined to stop the Alien from destroying the Land of Musicals, Maria (
Sound of Music
) puts on her toughest face, her Power Loader and shouts, "Get away from her, you Bitch," in quite possibly the best moment of the musical for the spectacular Aliens reference before going after the Alien. It is a fight you won't soon forget filled with enjoyable songs, an exciting story and an adventure in a land of musicals and aliens! The 2015 Hollywood Fringe award-winning
Alien vs. Musical
is back at the 2016 Fringe with new musical numbers and a longer more incredible performance.
